2020 has been a year of promise and peril, and one that has highlighted for me the strength and resilience of the Coupa community. The pandemic impacted individuals in all parts of the globe, as we adjusted to working from home and not being able to meet with our customers, partners, and colleagues in person. Yet because Coupa is a cloud-native platform, we've been able to launch new customers and serve existing ones in an all-remote environment while maintaining our relentless pace of innovation. We never wavered in our focus to deliver the most comprehensive Business Spend Management (BSM) solution and value-as-a-service.

This year, we’ve exceeded 1400 customers spanning the Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific, have grown to more than 2000 employees, have nearly 2 Trillion in cumulative spend under management, added several companies to our family, including the recent acquisition of Treasury leader BELLIN to ensure that our BSM platform is the most comprehensive in the industry.

It is rewarding to us to see industry analysts recognize our leadership in this category. Last week, Gartner announced that Coupa has been named a Leader in the 2020 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Procure-to-Pay Suites for the fifth consecutive time. The report evaluated 14 vendors across 15 types of evaluation criteria and positioned Coupa in the Leaders quadrant for completeness of vision and ability to execute.

Now more than ever, companies need the right technology solutions and insights to navigate an unpredictable business environment. To us, being named a Leader by Gartner for the fifth consecutive time is an honor, and validates our mission of empowering businesses with the visibility and control to spend smarter, simpler, and safer.

Throughout this year, my colleagues and I have heard from countless customers how much having Coupa meant to them and how once they start using Coupa, it becomes unimaginable to go back to the old way of doing things. We recently spoke with Coupa customer American Cancer Society, a nonprofit that used Coupa to more effectively transact with suppliers through the pandemic, which has helped contain costs and mitigate supply chain risk. They shared their success with us in a recent press release:

"With Coupa, the American Cancer Society was able to shift from what was once a reactive procurement function to a state where we could proactively manage costs and supplier relationships holistically, even through the most difficult and uncertain of times. As a global grassroots organization with over two million volunteers spanning numerous offices, treatment centers, and patient lodges across the country, having the agility, visibility, and control to manage its entire supply chain through a unified Business Spend Management platform was vital to operations and ensuring future organizational resilience.”

—Brian Kyle, managing director, Strategic Sourcing & Contracts Management at American Cancer Society

Thank you to the BSM community—our customers, partners, and employees—for the hard work and commitment to our collective mission that we think helped us to be acknowledged as a Leader for the fifth consecutive year in the Magic Quadrant. You can view the full report here.
