As a state certified mechanic in a coal-mine by training, and a licensed taxi-driver in his hometown, Klaus studied Communicational Science, Sociology & Politics with a major in “Organisational Sociology” and did his thesis about “The technical core of organisations”. Somehow, that must have been a pre-determination of the ways his career should develop, although he didn’t ever think about it that way when it happened.
Klaus joined IKEA in 1992 and has been working on local, national, European & global level, as well as having a short stint as a business-developer (purchaser) for B2C transport & delivery services in Germany – at a time when the “technology platform” still primarily consisted of spreadsheets, a self-build database and an e-mail-client. The last 15 years Klaus has been responsible for the development and support of the global IKEA Transport sourcing (-optimization-)solutions as a team-manager and Solution Owner - and by that, he also became an evangelist of Sourcing Optimization @IKEA.
Today Klaus is employed at IKEA Purchasing in Germany (a division of the INTER-IKEA-Group), supporting teams at IKEA Supply AG, IKEA Food AB, IKEA Communications AB and IKEA of Sweden AB.
