We're taking an important step forward in that commitment by reimagining Coupa University. This August, we're introducing a new approach to learning designed to make education more accessible, help teams build expertise faster, and create clearer pathways to certification and professional growth.

Removing barriers to learning

As of August 1, 2026, Coupa University has transitioned from the existing paid Learning Pass subscription model to a combination of Open Access and new Premium certification-based framework.

As part of this change, Coupa foundational training—the courses you rely on for onboarding, product adoption, and baseline proficiency—is now available at no cost. 

By removing the cost barrier to foundational learning, you can build expertise sooner, scale knowledge more broadly, and accelerate adoption across your teams. 

Foundational knowledge is only the beginning

Alongside free training, Coupa University will introduce flexible, role-based certification bundles that enable individuals and teams to validate and deepen their expertise in areas most relevant to their responsibilities. 

Over time, we also plan to expand premium learning options, including advanced curricula and expert-level certifications for organizations seeking more specialized education paths. 

This new approach creates a structured framework that supports learners at every stage—from first-time users building core skills to experienced practitioners driving enterprise-wide transformation. 

Part of a broader customer success strategy

The evolution of Coupa University reflects a much broader vision to make it easier for customers to reengineer their businesses. Over the past year, Coupa has integrated even greater capabilities and functionality, bringing category strategy, supplier discovery, document intelligence, and workflow orchestration directly into the platform.
