Drive smarter spend strategies with AI
The Total Spend Management Annual Benchmark Report
The Agentic Enterprise Is Here

Every operating leader aspires to the day when a system stops being something you run and starts running things for you. We've been working toward that for years. With Coupa’s September 2026 release, we are there.
We are shifting the modern procurement and finance leader from running manual operations to directing a high-performing, AI-augmented engine. By letting autonomous agents handle complex payment, sourcing, and supply chain workflows, our customers can eliminate bottlenecks and focus their people on the strategic decisions that move the needle.
Here are a few things I'm super excited about:
Autonomous sourcing on autopilot
Submit a request, and the agent takes it from there. It checks policy, finds the right template, swaps in your real items and suppliers, and either publishes a compliant sourcing event or sends it to your team for action with a clear "why." We're targeting an 80% reduction in cycle time for fully automated flows, with every step auditable and a human always in the loop.
Autonomous intelligence that multiplies margins
Spend Pulse powered by Coupa Navi™ agents provides procurement and finance teams with transparent, real-time market intelligence to foster stronger, more data-informed buying decisions and supplier relationships. It correlates U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics inflation data directly against enterprise spend to surface clear, objective market signals like suboptimal contract pricing. Navi agents can autonomously take action to correct these highlighted opportunities.
By bringing official, verifiable market benchmarks into every conversation, teams can navigate broader economic shifts together, aligning on fair pricing and protecting operating margins with every AI-driven insight fully explainable and traceable. For example, a large French travel and leisure company, one of our early adopter customers, is already excited about the potential return on investment they expect to see by integrating Supplier Risk and Inventory ASN signals into their workflows.
Scalable, secure AI for spend operations
Use Coupa MCP to seamlessly connect your AI experiences and agents to your live spend data. With 30+ intent-driven tools, Coupa MCP enables your AI to not just securely and intelligently access and understand trusted spend data, but act on it — all within existing user permissions, policies, and with a complete audit trail, while reducing custom AI integration effort by approximately 90%.
One source of truth for item data
For anyone in direct materials procurement managing a multi-ERP landscape (especially post-M&A), our Unified Item Repository consolidates fragmented data from SAP, Oracle, and Microsoft Dynamics into a single, clean source of truth. One catalog, every ERP, zero chaos. Your procurement team finally works from a single source of truth, no matter how many systems are behind the scenes.
Finance, fortified and fast
With our latest enhancements to Expenses and Coupa Card, requesting a card is simple, unlocking powerful new capabilities like recurring spend while seamlessly auto-creating expense reports for effortless reconciliation. An upgraded Payment Analysis Agent answers questions across the entire payment lifecycle such as "Is my payment still pending?" or "What is the status of that credit note?" all in plain English.
The Early Payment Discount Agent extends that same conversation to discounts, so AP teams can ask “Which invoices have a discount expiring within 48 hours?” and get an instant answer. Meanwhile, the Early Payment Discount Capture Agent proactively catches early payment discounts before they expire. Plus, a new Payments Fraud Management Agent screens supplier banking documents for manipulation before an account goes live. And our new Cash Management Data Agent gives treasury teams instant, secure access to cash positions — no more navigating multiple screens and custom reports just to answer a simple question. Combined, these further your journey to autonomous invoice to pay processing.
A powerhouse for your supply chain
We combined network optimization and transportation routing into a single solver, Network Routing Optimization. Paired with Digital Scheduling Agreement Confirmations, the ambiguity of "I assumed they would deliver on time" becomes an actual, auditable record.
Beyond these headline moments, the September 2026 release includes a full slate of new agents and capabilities across procurement, finance, supply chain, and IT. See the full release notes for the complete list.
The path forward
This momentum of innovation rests on the foundation of Coupa’s unmatched data set and a thriving community of 11 million buyers and suppliers. Our platform — recently recognized as the only vendor named a Gartner Customers' Choice for 2026 — is now further bolstered by our recent acquisitions of Rossum and Tonkean. We've integrated the high-precision Intelligent Document Processing capabilities that the Rossum acquisition brought us to supercharge our agentic AI roadmap, achieving over 96% accuracy at the core of your invoice workflows. By pairing that with the intake, orchestration, and A2A connections delivered by our Tonkean acquisition, we are automating the start of every request and synchronizing the entire ecosystem — making Coupa Compose the definitive solution for transforming your business with autonomous spend. This is how we ensure agentic AI translates into immediate, measurable value.
We’re revolutionizing the implementation experience for our corporate and mid-market customers too with the introduction of Quickflow Configuration. We know that for many businesses, speed to value is critical. Quickflow delivers on that need, dramatically reducing deployment time and accelerating your path to operational excellence. It’s an administrative solution that provides in-product guidance and self-enablement tools, streamlining the entire system setup. This isn't just about making setup easier; it's about making your team self-sufficient and getting your platform running in record time.
Originally released in May 2026, the Supplier Onboarding Agent takes a major leap forward by turning a tedious, multistep supplier onboarding process into an effortless, conversational experience. Users simply type "onboard [supplier name]" and Navi handles the rest. Behind the scenes, newly added intelligent skills take on the heavy lifting: instantly tailoring profiles via community intelligence, personalizing workflows by commodity, region, and language, and stopping duplicate submissions in real time. By running automated sanction checks, leveraging a Risk Profile Agent to gather live risk and performance metrics, and automatically resuming paused requests, Navi eliminates manual friction entirely, empowering procurement teams to onboard vendors faster, safer, and with complete confidence.
We’re thrilled to continue this investment in our suppliers with the debut of our AI-driven automated invoice uploads within the Coupa Supplier Portal. This AI-enhanced submission engine leverages high-precision extraction to instantly capture details from digital documents. By utilizing intelligent matching between orders and billing, the system virtually eliminates manual overhead and prevents costly errors. This new, optional capability offers our suppliers a frictionless, autonomous path to getting paid with total confidence in their data accuracy while supporting your electronic invoicing goals.
We are building the future of sourcing with an AI-first Sourcing Event Marketplace designed to seamlessly connect buyers with suppliers. You will see significantly better supplier recommendations within your existing sourcing events, powered by AI that more precisely matches suppliers with buyer needs. Over time, we will also evolve the buyer experience and user interface to make AI-powered supplier discovery a more integrated part of sourcing, significantly streamlining sourcing for buyers while giving suppliers greater visibility into relevant opportunities across the Coupa platform — better business outcomes for both sides.
Over the next few weeks, look out for in-depth blog posts on what this means for leaders in procurement, finance, supply chain, and IT.
We built this because the next real advantage won't come from doing old work faster. It'll come from not doing it at all — and putting your best people on the decisions only they can make.
