Supply & Demand Chain Executive has named Coupa’s Mat Woodcock, Nick Martin, and Alan McCord as winners of this year’s Pros to Know award. The Pros to Know award recognizes outstanding executives whose accomplishments offer a roadmap for other leaders looking to leverage the supply chain for competitive advantage.
“Many of today’s supply chain pros are more than just leaders within their space; they’re innovators, decision makers, pioneers of change and growth. They’ve spent the last year (and more) creating safer, more efficient supply chains,” says Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Food Logistics and Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “These winners continue to go above and beyond to overcome challenges, advance supply chain management and make the impossible possible.”
Mat Woodcock, a regional vice president of supply chain strategy, was recognized in the Lifetime Achievement category. This category honors company leaders who’ve made outstanding contributions to the supply chain space and have worked for at least 10 years in supply chain and logistics.
Nick Martin, a regional vice president, global leader of solutions consulting and customer solutions partner for supply chain, was recognized in the Rising Stars category. This category recognizes young or newer professionals (39 and under) whose achievements, hard work, and vision have shaped the supply chain network.
Alan McCord, a principal data scientist, supply chain design and planning, was recognized for the Top Procurement Pros category, which highlights professionals in the procurement space, with a procurement title.
Mat Woodcock has been driven by the power of supply chains to enable business value since he started in the industry in 1996. His first role was in procurement for a large food and restaurant company which is where he initially saw the opportunity to drive improvement and positive influence by thinking across business silos.
Today he works with hundreds of customers to enable end-to-end supply chain design principles — bringing value to customers both financially and in terms of sustainability, service, and risk management. He helps customers mature their functions and have a wider impact, moving beyond traditional strategic network design and into wider areas — enabling both strategic and tactical uses impacting multiple business processes.
Nick Martin leads a global team of seasoned business professionals helping customers build robust centers of excellence and adoption plans for Coupa’s Supply Chain Solutions partnering with dedicated sales and alliance partners around the world.
Before joining Coupa, Nick worked in manufacturing at Boeing, which has allowed him to connect and empathize with his customers. Nick leverages his industrial engineering background to help customers think about how to test and evaluate their networks and scenarios by using things like a design of experiments approach or hypothesis testing.
Alan’s career began as an academic researcher in computational physics, studying how complex dynamical systems can self-organize and make transitions between orderly and chaotic behavior and how such systems can be made to become “self-optimizing” and resilient to external shocks.
Now, Alan drives a range of initiatives bringing technical thought leadership and strategy to underpin the next generation of supply chain design and planning software with AI at its core. In his role as a principal data scientist, Alan works on the applied research team to provide algorithms, models, and solution techniques for optimization and AI or machine learning, which can then be further productized by Coupa’s development teams.
We’re incredibly proud to have such passionate and inspiring employees who are tirelessly working to innovate and ensure the success of our customers. Learn more about how Coupa is helping build a future-proof supply chain here.
